The story
Twelve shallow wells keep the eggs from sliding on the way to the table, and the handle hangs it on a hook when the party is over.
The body is cherry and maple glued edge to edge, with two thin padauk lines that wander from the handle to the far end. Cherry starts salmon pink and deepens to a saddle red with light and time, so the tray will not look quite like this in a year. That is the wood, not wear.
Wash by hand, dry standing up, oil it when it looks pale.
