Wash by hand, dry standing up, and oil the board when it looks thirsty. Read the care guide
The story
Oil goes in; board butter stays on top. A board that looks pale or dry wants food-safe mineral oil first, rubbed in and left to soak. This goes on after, buffed thin with a cloth, to seal the surface and shed water between washes. Wax alone on a dry board does very little, so oil first. Never use cooking oils on a board; they go rancid in the wood.
